With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Ms. Audrey M. Diggs. A native of Detroit, MI, and resident of Millbrook, AL; Ms. Diggs transitioned Friday, May 24th, 2024. She was 56. Ms. Diggs will Lie in State for Public Visitation on Friday, May 31st, 2024 from 4-6PM at Jackson Professional Funeral Services. The Homegoing Celebration will be held at Jackson Chapel A.M.E.Z. Church at 11AM on Saturday, June 1st, 2024. The Committal and Interment will follow at Long Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Frank Asumadu is the pastor; the Eulogist will be Rev. James Jackson of Clinton Chapel A.M.E.Z. Church.
Audrey Michell Smith-Diggs was born to James Smith, Jr. and Rosa M. Sims-Smith on August 4, 1967, in Detroit, MI. Aubrey accepted Christ at an early age. She attended South Easton High School in Detroit, MI. Her industrial life included employment with Bond Secure in Detroit, MI. Her life’s journey eventually relocated her and her family to the south, Millbrook, AL. Opportunity afforded her to serve as a Paraprofessional with the Elmore County Board of Education for seven years.
Audrey Michell Smith-Diggs departed this life on Friday, May 24, 2024. She was preceded in death by; her father: James Smith, Jr.; and a special cousin: Amanda Gail Rawls. Audrey leaves to cherish her memories; a loving and devoted mother: Rosa M. Smith; one son: Andre’ (Sharrell) Smith; two daughters: Ashton Smith and Toah’rae Diggs, three grandchildren: Aniya Stewart, Ariel Smith, and Andre’ Smith, Jr.; a devoted brother: James Tyrone Smith; a dear friend: Gwendolyn Williams; five aunts: Levicy White, Josephine Sims, Alice Sims, Lucille Smith, and Carrie Williams; two uncles: Waymond Sims and Joseph Sims; and a host of nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
