David Griffin

With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. David Griffin, a resident of Newton, AL. Mr. Griffin transitioned on Friday, March 4th, 2022. He was 71. A Public Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12th, 2022, from 11AM-1PM at Daleville Christian Fellowship Worship Center. The Homegoing Celebration follow at 1PM. The Committal & Interment will take place at Green Valley Cemetery in Dothan, AL. D.C.F.W.C. public health and safety protocols have been established, and are enforced. All individuals attending the Public Visitation & Funeral Service are required to wear a mask or face covering at all times while inside the facility.

David Griffin was born June 29, 1950 to Clarence and Angie Line McCarty Griffin in Taylor, AL. He grew up in the Bay Springs Community of Dothan, AL. David attended Spann Jr. High School in Dothan, AL and E.R. Grimsley High School in Ashford, AL. He met, fell in love with and married Mary Hayes of Newton, AL. They shared 45 years of life together. David was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Angie Griffin; his wife: Mary Griffin; his daughter: Ericka McMiller; and brother: Samuel Griffin.

He leaves to cherish his memories to four children: David Tyrone Harris and Lew (Tracy) Harris of Dothan, AL, Shelisa (Thomas) Mason and Cherita Hayes of Daleville, AL; Seven grandchildren: Artesha (Daniell) Powell, Dominique Harris, Ralph (Qiraston) Mason, Damon (Megan) Harris, Davian (Vanessa) Johnson, Darwin Mason and Destinee Harris; 12 great grand-children, one brother: Mance Griffin; two sisters: Mamie Lenon and Emma Jean Griffin of Dothan, AL; two brothers-in-law: Albert Hayes and Larry Hayes of St. Petersburg, FL; two aunts: Anna M. McCarty of Dothan, AL and Jackie Harper of Ozark, AL; along with a host of nieces, nephews and or relatives and friends.
