With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. Emzy Wilson Russell. A resident of Montgomery, AL, Mr. Russell transitioned Monday, July 3rd, 2023. He was 73. A Public Visitation will be held Saturday, July 15th, 2023 between the hours of 4PM and 6PM at Jackson Professional Funeral Services. On Sunday, July 16th, 2023, A Public Visitation will be held in the chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services from 1PM until the Celebration of Life begins at 2PM. Pastor Pastor F.L. Kendricks is the Officiant. Committal & Interment will follow at Mr. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Emzy Wilson Russell was born April 3, 1950, to the late Edward Leo Russell, Sr. and Hattie Mae Witcher Russell. He passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Baptist South Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Willow Russell and Ruth Ann Walker.
He accepted Christ at an early age at Hopewell AME Zion church in Hope Hull, AL and later became a member at Varick Star AME Zion Church in Montgomery, AL. Emzy received his education at Calhoun High School and went on to serve in the United States Army in 1970.
Those who remain to forever cherish his precious memories are; two daughters: Chantrie A. Hayden of Cary, NC and Elizabeth A. Russell of Atlanta, GA; a loving and devoted brother and sister-in-law: Edward (Bettie) Leon Russell, Jr. of Montgomery, AL; a brother and sister in Birmingham, AL: Greg Russell & Mariea Russell; seven nieces, four nephews a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
