Evelyn Grace Ward: A Tribute to a Life of Service and Resilience
February 27, 1964 - November 8, 2023
Evelyn Grace Ward's life story is an inspiring testament to dedication, love, and resilience. Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Lucille Hair McDonald and John Henry Locke, Evelyn's journey began on February 27, 1964, and it was a path marked by unwavering strength and a deep commitment to serve.
Evelyn's early years at Sunnyside Elementary and Reid Ross High School laid the foundation for her remarkable life. Her leadership in the ROTC was more than a role; it was the start of a lifelong dedication to service. This commitment shone brightly during her 18 years in the U.S. Air Force, where she served with distinction, especially during Desert Storm. Her skills in firearms and her leadership as a sergeant were a testament to her bravery and dedication to her country.
After her honorable service, Evelyn, as a single parent, embarked on an academic journey that was as inspiring as it was challenging. She achieved a Bachelor's and a Master's in Psychology from Troy State University, and her thirst for knowledge led her to be accepted into a Ph.D. program. This pursuit of education was a reflection of her relentless drive and determination.
Beyond her military and academic achievements, Evelyn's heart was always open to helping others. She was an active member of the Psychology Honors Society and used her experiences from traveling the world, including her time in Germany, to enrich her perspective. As a counselor in Alabama, she provided guidance and support to youth from troubled homes, showing deep empathy and compassion in her work. She also mentored future college students, helping them navigate the complexities of education and life.
While putting in numerous hours studying to be a minister at Anointed Remnant International Ministries, Evelyn stayed persistent in achieving each goal she put in place for herself. This resulted in her gaining one of her greatest accomplishments of being consecrated into the office of the prophet within the Anointed Remnant Global Assemblies while on a ministerial trip to Liberia, Africa.
Evelyn's personal life was filled with the love and joy of her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Maurice Ward, her sons Reginald Stephens and David Ward, and daughters Ja’Lisa and Rachel Stephens, and Dale Ward. Her grandchildren Raya Grace, Rian, Karson, Joseph, Javon, and Kaden brought her immense joy and pride.
Evelyn's family legacy includes her father, Robert McDonald, her siblings Carolyn, Dorothy, Cynthia, Thomas, and William, and numerous nieces and nephews. We also remember her late siblings Gracie, Sandra, and Saunders. Evelyn's life story, from her military service to her educational achievements and her nurturing presence, will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her legacy is one of courage, kindness, and an unyielding spirit. Evelyn Grace Ward's memory will forever be a source of strength and inspiration to her family, her community, and the countless lives she touched.
