With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. Gregory Kent Hughes "Ballin-G." A native, and resident of Montgomery, AL. Mr. Hughes transitioned Sunday, December 11th, 2022. He was 57. A Public Visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Friday, December 16th, 2022 from the chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. The Celebration of Life will take place at 1PM on Saturday, December 17th, 2022. This will take place at Old Elam Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Hughes will be available for public viewing one hour before the service begins. Pastor David Ellington is the Officiant. Committal and Interment will follow in the church-yard cemetery.
Gregory Kent Hughes was born on December 01, 1965 to the late Henry and Phyllis Hughes. At an early age he confessed Christ and joined Old Elm Baptist Church, where he faithfully served until the Lord called him home.
Gregory is preceded in death by his devoted brothers, Larry Hughes and Timothy Waits. “Greg” was well known in the community as a skilled barber and fondly remembered as “the life of the
party”. Many knew him as “Ballin G” with a smile that would light up the room.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his loving sisters: Emily Hughes of Madison,WI, Brenda (Micheal) Walker; Ann Knight, Tina Waits, Shalanda Jackson and Lakeshia Waits, all of Montgomery, AL; his sister-in-law; Sandra Hughes of ND; his devoted brothers: Jeffrey (Elinore) McWorther of Denver, Colorado, Julius (Eileen) Hughes of Detroit, Michigan, Horace (Martha) Wilkinson, Marvin (Carolyn) Hughes, Malone (Lisa) Waits and Terry (Jennifer) Waits, all of Montgomery, AL; loyal and faithful friends and family: Deramus (Rell) Dorsey, Edward Sharpe, Timothy Pettway, Michael Fuller, TMarcus Fuller, Adrian Hendricks, Leonard and Gary Hendricks, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.
