With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mrs. Helen Tuggle-Walker A native, and resident of Pike Road, AL, Mrs. Walker transitioned Friday, December 30th, 2022. She was 77. A Public Visitation will be held Friday, January 6th, 2023 from 4-6PM in the Visitation Parlor of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. Mrs. Walker will lie in state one hour prior to the Celebration of Life Service that will begin at 2PM on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Pike Road. Bishop Robert Lewis is the Officiant.
Helen Tuggle Walker was born on February 1, 1945 in Waugh, Alabama to the late Willie and Rella Tuggle. She accepted Christ at an early age at Saint John Baptist Church in Waugh, Alabama She remained a member until the Lord saw fit to call her home. Helen graduated from Georgia Washington School in 1964. She united in holy matrimony to the late Thomas Lee Walker on April 30, 1964. Later in life, she moved to Detroit, Michigan and lived there for a number of years before returning to Waugh, Alabama in her later years. She was known for entertaining family and friends. With such a vibrant spirit, there was never a dull moment with her. She also had a loving spirit in which she touched the hearts of so many people throughout her life. She was well-known for her cheesecakes and sweet potato pies.
On Friday, December 30, 2022, Mrs. Walker gained her wings. She leaves to cherish her memories; four daughters: Sheryl Brendanette Walker-Clayton, Sharita Monique (Kennon) Hollenquest, both of Waugh, AL, Shawanda Donnette Walker and Stephanie Denise Walker, both of Detroit, MI; one son: Sherman Leon Walker of Waugh, AL; three sisters: Mary (Louis) Johnson, Barbara (Henry) Baxter and Patricia (Daniel) Jackson, all of Waugh, AL; two sisters-in-law: Mary L. Tuggle of Waugh, AL, and Emma Tuggle of Bessemer, AL; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
