James Douglas Obituary

With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. James "Bubba" Douglas. A native, and resident, of Montgomery, AL, Mr. Douglas transitioned Friday, February 24th, 2023. He was 73. A Public Visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Friday, March 3rd, 2023 from the chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. Mr. Douglas will lie in state for public viewing one hour before the Homegoing Celebration begins at 11AM on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at the chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. Pastor Herbert Griggs is the officiant. Military Honors, the Committal and Interment will follow the service at Eastwood Memorial Gardens. The Repast will be held at The American Legion Hall. The address is 711 Airbase Blvd. Montgomery, 
AL.

Mr. James Douglas, a resident of Montgomery, AL, was born May 16th, 1949 to Mr. and Mrs. Matthew and Bammar Douglas. James accepted Christ at an early age while attending North Montgomery Baptist Church. Later, he attended Old Augusta Baptist Church. He received his education from the Montgomery Public School System, attending Hale Elementary School, Houston Hill Jr. High and ultimately graduated from Booker T. Washington Sr. High School. After graduating, James enlisted in the United states Marine Corps. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. James later served in the U.S. Army. His love of travel was facilitated by his military career. In his past time he was an avid golfer. He was able to travel and play in various tournaments. James later worked for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. He gave numerous years of service before retiring. On February 24th, 2023, at the age of 73, James received his heavenly wings.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are; two sons: Keith (Felicia) Braswell and Rodney (Robin) Douglas; four granddaughters: Camachio Harris, Kevoisier Braswell, Aleisha Wells and Jayda Edwards; five grandsons: Michael Washington, Keith D. Braswell, Kywaski Braswell, Stephon Seigler and Exavier Douglas; and eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Leon (Mamie) Douglas, George (Leslie) Douglas, Colinder D. Chappelle, Bronett (John) Terrell, Willie Douglas and Cynthia E. Douglas; a brother-in-law: Pastor Larry N. Boldin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. James also had several special friends whom he considered as brothers/family: Moses Scott, Marvin and Linda Brundidge, Curtis Jackson, and Edward Witherspoon, and a host of golfers, and American Legion friends from Mississippi & Tennessee.

James was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Annie L. Iverson, Georgia E. Tatum, Eliott (Louise) Douglas, Jenett Boldin, Jesse (Sara) Douglas, and Matthew (Susie) Douglas
