James Griffin Obituary

With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. James S. Griffin. A native of Fort Benning, GA, and resident of Montgomery, AL, Mr. Griffin transitioned Tuesday, December 16, 2025. He was 69. Service information is listed below.

James S. Griffin, affectionately known as “Bubba,” was born on May 26, 1956, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late James Griffin and Josephine Griffin. He passed away on December 16, leaving behind a legacy shaped by family ties, craftsmanship, and the years he spent building and creating with his hands.

James was preceded in death by his parents and is remembered by his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his two older sisters, Sharon McNeill (Harold McNeill) and Deborah Terry (Fred Terry); and his two younger brothers, Jerry Griffin (Lisa Griffin) and Alan Griffin (Faye Griffin).

He is survived by his daughters, Tasha Lewis (Bernard Lewis) and Aisha Griffin. Through Tasha, James is remembered by four grandsons and two granddaughters, as well as two great-grandchildren. Through Aisha, he is remembered by his three granddaughters, Na’Shiya Zeigler, Kamiyah Moore, and Jaisha Marshall.

James is also survived by his beloved aunts, Lou Ella Jackson and Lillian Scott, his devoted friend, Homer Lewis, two devoted nieces, Aaris and Paris Pearsall, who held a special place in his heart, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and friends.

From an early age, Bubba developed a passion for painting and carpentry, talents that remained with him throughout his life. He was well known and respected for his craftsmanship, with work that spoke to his dedication, skill, and pride well into his later adulthood.

He was a loyal fan of the Washington Redskins, a love he carried with him for many years. Above all, James valued family, hard work, and the simple joys of life.

James S. “Bubba” Griffin will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his steady hands, quiet strength, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
