With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. James Ewards Pitts. A resident of Troy, AL, Mr. Pitts transitioned Tuesday, August 6th, 2024. He was 64. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 17th, 2024 at 1PM at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Highland Home, AL. The Committal & Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Marcus Jones is the Officiant.
James Edward Pitts, also known as “Dr. Pepper” or “Peter” was born May 5, 1960 to John Edward and Orish Catherine Pitts. James received his education from the Crenshaw County School System. He loved football and was a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. “Roll Tide!” On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, James heard our Heavenly Father call his name, and he answered his call.
“Peter,” as he was affectionately known, was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Reggie Pitts and David Pitts; two sisters: Farginia Moore and Beverlyn Pitts; two nephews: Russell Eric Faulk and Joel Dudley.
He leaves to cherish his memories; two sons: James (Mauricia) Hicks and Steven (Constance) Hicks, all of Troy, AL; four grand children: Syriah Hicks, Kamari Hicks, Jabez Dean, and Amiracle Greenwood; six siblings: John (Desiree) Pitts, Lulu (Russell) Faulk, Georgia (Jimmy) Osborne, Willie Pitts, Terry Pitts, and Rodney Pitts; two very close and devoted friends: Roger Seawright and Kenneth June; a dearest friend: Maresellie Hicks; and a host of loving & caring nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends.
