Mr. James William Edwards, a resident of Montgomery, and native of Orrville, AL; answered the Master’s call and transitioned from earth to glory on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020. He was 81 years old.
Public Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28th, 2020 from 4-6 PM in the chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. In compliance with the directive issued by Mayor Reed as well as CDC guidelines, individuals attending the visitation and/or funeral services are required to wear a mask or face covering at all times while in the facility. Mr. Edwards will be laid to rest following a Graveside Service; to be held at 11 AM on Wednesday July 29th, 2020 at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande, Alabama with Rev, Paul Coleman, Sr. officiating.
Mr. James Edwards was born on April 24th, 1939 to Mr. Almus Edwards, Jr., and Mrs. Annie Lue (Brown) Edwards. He graduated from Keith High School in Orrville, AL in 1957. He married and shared his life with Mrs. Seaybelle Safford Edwards. This union was blessed with two loving daughters, Jacquelyn and Melissa. Later in life, he retired from the City of Mobile, AL as a Bus Driver. After retiring from the city of Mobile, he moved to Atlanta, GA. Some of the things that James thoroughly enjoyed were gardening, nature, feeding the birds, driving to discover new places, learning new things, and touring museums.
Mr. Edwards leaves to forever cherish and adore his memories; one loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law: Mrs. Jacquelyn D. Coleman, and Mr. Paul Coleman, II; one granddaughter: Maya Coleman, all of Fresno, TX; three brothers: Mr. Roosevelt Edwards of Selma, AL, Mr. Orlando Edwards of Detroit, MI, and Mr. Roy Edwards of Orrville, AL; five sisters: Ms. Ethel Hood of Lithonia, GA, Ms. Betty Varner of Selma, AL, Mrs. Barbara Bryant (Howard) of Beloit, AL, Ms. Cindy Owens of Selma, AL, and Dr. Fannie McGowin of Lawrenceville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; a daughter: Ms. Melissa Edwards; a grandson: Paul Coleman III; two brothers: Mr. John T. Edwards and Mr. Cleveland Edwards; two sisters: Ms. Lillian Beard and Ms. Mary Tabb.
