Jesse "Jake" Sankey

With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. Jesse "Jake" Sankey. A native and resident of Ramer, AL. Mr. Sankey transitioned Thursday, September 1st, 2022. He was 78.  A Public Visitation will be held Friday, September 9th, 2022 from 4-6PM at Jackson Professional Funeral Services. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11AM on Saturday, September 10th, 2022 in the Chapel of J.P F.S. A one hour Public Visitation will precede the service. Pastor Clarence Smiley of Galilee M.B.C. is the officiant. Following the service, the Committal and Interment will take place at Hickory Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Ramer, AL. A Repast will follow at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Tommy & Mary Sankey.

Mr. Jesse Sankey, or “Jake” as he was affectionately called, was born to Mr. Jimmie Sankey & Mrs. Mildred Huffman Sankey on January 20th, 1944, in Ramer, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother: William Sankey; and three sisters: Bufis Lee McDuffie, Catherine Sankey, Voncile Sankey and Shirley Ann Sankey Evans.

Jake accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education at Mt. Zion Elementary School. During his industrious life, Jesse often worked as a logger. Jake Loved to ride his bike, and help people in the community. One of the things that he enjoyed doing was cleaning up around Tex Grocery, the local community store.

On September 1st, 2022, Jake peacefully transitioned. His presence will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Those who remain include his brothers: Henry Lee (Lois) Sankey of Troy, NY, Tommy (Mary) Sankey and Jimmy (Valerie) Sankey both of Ramer, AL; one sister: Betty Jean (Leroy) Rivers of Lathan, NY; one brother-in-law: Willie Lee McDuffie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Ramer Community and friends.
