Mrs. Jessie Marshall, a resident of Montgomery, AL, was called from her earthly tabernacle to the home our Lord promised us on Thursday, September 9th, 2021; she was 80 years old. Born on December 17th, 1940, Mrs. Marshall was the daughter of Mrs. Bertha Lee Sankey and Mr. Jesse Strong. Her parents instilled in her a love for Christ, and she confessed her belief in him as a youngster.
Mrs. Marshall resided in New York during which time she was employed at Sulphur State Development Center. While she was working at Sulphur State, she found her passion and love of caring for and helping others. She began taking care of others and helping them get on the right track in life. Through her devotion, love, and compassion, Mrs. Marshall gave others light when they couldn't see their way; she imparted trust and love into the lives of those she encountered when they were unable to experience love and trust from other sources. Mrs. Marshall devoted her entire life to loving and caring for others. Not only were her wonderful deeds of love and kindness shared with strangers or those with whom she had a chance encounter or with those with whom she worked, but Mrs. Marshall extended love and a helping hand to her family members. She was the epitome of "love is what love does." The scripture text in the 31st chapter of the book of Proverbs where King Solomon extolled the virtuous woman aptly fits Mrs. Marshall. It can be attested by all who knew her that, "When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly. She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy and productive. Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise (The Message)." Mrs. Marshall impacted the lives of scores of people in meaningful ways. She made a positive difference, and her living has not been in vain.
Love ones preceding Mrs. Marshall in death include her husband: Joseph Marshall; father: Jesse Strong; mother: Bertha Lee Evans; step-father: Samson E. Evans; two sisters: Stella D. Flowers and Jewel (Mattie) Robinson; and one brother: Samson (BB) Evans, III, formerly of Montgomery, AL.
Mrs. Marshall leaves to cherish her memories and continue her legacy of love and compassion her two children: Akil and O'Neal Marshall whom she loved very dearly; two sisters: Evelyn (Jimmy) Lowery and Linda McCullough of Montgomery, AL; and one brother: Samson Evans, II of Mobile, AL; a devoted friend: Brenda Green of Atlanta, GA, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
