With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Kendra Tareece Wilkerson "Tibby", a native and resident of Geneva, AL. Kendra transitioned on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021. She was 33. A public visitation will be held from 4-6PM Thursday, July 1st, 2021, from the McComb Honorary Chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2nd, 2021, at 2PM at St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Eunola, AL. In compliance with government recommendations and J.P.F.S. public safety standards, individuals attending the public visitation are required to wear a mask or face covering at all times while inside the facility.
Many will say that Tibby’s was a life too short; however, at times like these, we would do well to recall the quote by Dr. Martin Luther, King, Jr., “It's not how long you live, it's how well you live.”
On Wednesday, June 8th, 1988, Ms. Kendra Tareece Wilkerson, “Tibby,” was born to proud parents, Mr. Terry and Mrs. Barbara Wilkerson. At an early age, Kendra received Christ and became a member of St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the youth choir. She received her public education in the Geneva City School System. Tibby enjoyed spending time with friends and family and always made her presence known by making people laugh. She knew the Biblical concept that a cheerful heart is good medicine (Proverbs 17:22).
Like so many of us, Kendra faced personal crisis and unexpected loss, both of which enabled her to build resilience. Not only did she learn to overcome difficulty, but she looked ahead to “better days.” Only the Lord knew that her “better days” would not be reached on this side of eternity but would come on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021, when she completed her brief journey through time and peacefully departed this life.
Kendra leaves behind to forever cherish her memories, celebrate her life, and grieve her demise two beautiful children: Keshan and Shanta’ Stevens; her parents: Terry and Barbara Wilkerson; grandparents: Johnny and Nellie Morris; three brothers: Terry Underwood, Antonio (Fredia) Underwood, and Christopher Wilkerson; two sisters: Jalicia and Janna Morris; one aunt: Jacqueline Morris; uncles: Rev. Patrick (Karen) Wilkerson, Gary (Stacy) Wilkerson, and Donald (Kim) Morris; nieces and nephews: Kevin Monte Cole, Makalia Underwood, Antonio Underwood, Jr., Kash Occeus, Jacyana Petty, and Julian Morris; cousins: Javian, Jada, Darian, Keidra, and Diamond: a god son: Ja ‘Koby De’Sean Felder; special friends: Kelly Felder and Veronica Lett. Tibby also leaves behind many other relatives and close friends.
Kendra was preceded in death by her sister: Shante Cole.
