With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Ms. Lira Cecelia Taylor. A native of Birmingham, AL, and resident of Montgomery, AL, Ms. Taylor transitioned Monday, September 12th, 2022. She was 82. Public Visitation will be held Friday, September 16th, 2022 in the Chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services from 4-6PM. A Celebration of life will be held at Fresh Anointing House of Worship on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at 11AM. Bishop Kyle Searcy is the Officiant. Committal and Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Cemetery. A repast will follow the burial at Fresh Anointing House of Worship.
Ms. Lira Cecelia Taylor was born July 23rd, 1940 in Birmingham, AL to Mr. James & Mrs. Jessie Britton. She departed this life Monday, September 12th, 2022.
“G” as she was affectionately called, possessed a personality that would light up a room. She received her education from St. Jude Catholic School and was a member of Fresh Anointing House of Worship. Just some of the things that she enjoyed were cooking, dancing, singing & skating. During her youth she served as a Girl Scout Leader, Drill Team Leader and even as a Disk Jockey.
She is preceded in death by; a daughter: Lisa Taylor; a son: Robert Taylor, and her parents.
Those who remain to celebrate and cherish her memory are her loving and devoted children: Sherry (Leonard) Chestnut, Victoria Taylor & Sellers Taylor; grandchildren: Alonza (Mellesa) Johnson, Jr., Robert Taylor, Shateskia Taylor, Eronica Taylor, Mikkia Taylor, Christopher (Charee) Johnson, Shecoria Billups, Keith Taylor, Keon Taylor, Korea Taylor, Jeffery Williams & Jared Williams; great-grandchildren: Takarion Taylor, Amerion Taylor, Lil Robert Taylor, Joshua Johnson, Sophia Johnson, Jayvyn Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Jr. & Eric James, Jr.; siblings: Lucille Taylor, Michael (Dawn) Britton, Cedric (Marie) Britton, James Britton, Jr. & Reginald Britton; a special friend: Patricia Britton; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
