With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mrs. Lizzie Mae Hubbard, a life-long resident of Montgomery, AL. Mrs. Hubbard transitioned on Friday, April 23rd, 2021. She was 83. Public visitation will be held on Friday, April 30th, 2021, from 4-6 PM, in the McComb Honorary Chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. In compliance with government recommendations, and J.P.F.S. Public Safety Standards, individuals attending the visitation are required to wear a mask or face covering at all times while inside the facility. Temperature checks are also required upon entering the funeral home. A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, May 1st, 2021, at Bible Missionary Baptist Church, 2750 Tremont Street, Montgomery, AL. Service will begin at 11AM. In compliance with government recommendations, and Church Administration Policy, individuals attending the Home Going Celebration are required to wear a mask or face covering at all times, and practice social distancing while inside the church. A committal service and interment will follow at Woodley Memorial Gardens, 4410 Woodley Rd. Montgomery, AL.
Lizzie Mae Hubbard, also known as Sallie, was born on May 19, 1937, in Montgomery, AL to the late Silas and Manida Orum. She confessed Christ at an early age at Briar Hill Baptist Church. Lizzie later joined Bible Missionary Baptist Church were she served on the Ushers Board and as the Mother of the Church. She faithfully continued to worship and attend service until her health began to fail.
Lizzie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late John Hubbard, Jr. She was employed with Green Lantern Restaurant for over 30 years where she worked as a cook until retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Silas and Manida Orum; husband, John Hubbard, Jr.; two sisters: Easter Hampton and Dixie Orum Ivey; and grandson, Joshua Sankey.
Lizzie leaves to cherish her memories four children: Daniel Orum, Martha Scott, Lillie Lawson, and Steve Hubbard; sisters: Ruthie Hampton, Annie Green, Rosie Jackson, Anna Gordon, and Lillian Grice; brothers: Silas (Martha) Orum, Jr., Rev. Lucious (Sandy) Orum, Rev. Roosevelt (Marche) Orum, Willie Orum, and Luther (Drucilla) Orum; one sister-in-law: Charlie Mae Hubbard of Cleveland OH; one brother-in-law, Jessie Thomas of Montgomery, AL; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
