Min. Dr. Lillie Thomas Obituary

With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mrs. Lillie R. Thomas. A resident of Montgomery, AL; Mrs. Thomas transitioned Tuesday, April 30, 2024. She was 67. Public Visitation will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4-6PM in the Chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. Minister Thomas will Lie in State for Public Viewing on Friday, May 10th, 2024 from 10AM, until the Homegoing Celebration begins at 11AM. This service will be held at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church. The Committal and Interment will follow at Eastwood Memorial Gardens. The Officiant & Eulogist will be Pastor, Dr. Henry Hendrick.

Lillie was married to her late husband, David Thomas, in 1981. From this union, two beloved children were born: Kristin Scales of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and David (Jessica) Thomas of Baltimore, Maryland. Alongside her children, Lillie is survived by her cherished grandchildren: Victor Harp-Thomas, Reco Rainer Jr, Destinee Scales, and Imani Thomas. She also leaves behind her father, Joseph McClain Sr., and her siblings: Samuel Ford, Albert Ford, Joseph McClain Jr., Viola McClain, Patricia Carter, Bernard McClain, and Angela (Andrew Sr.) Shorter, as well as a host of other nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her mother, Rebecca McClain, and her sister, Doris Merriweather.

Lillie was a devoted Christian woman, renowned for her unwavering faith and dedication to spreading love and kindness to all those she encountered. Her life exemplified her profound spiritual beliefs, and she served as a minister, touching the lives of many through her words and actions.

Lillie Rena Thomas earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education from Alabama State University, along with her doctoral degree in Divinity. She faithfully served as a teacher in the Montgomery County School District for over 25 years.

Rest in Peace, Lillie Rena Thomas. Your legacy of love and faith will forever reside in our hearts.
