Ms. Oddie Mae Cox, age 76, was a native of Montgomery, Alabama, and a resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Ms. Cox was known for her straightforward, honest nature and for always speaking her mind. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and she especially loved playing bingo. Her strength, warmth, and loving personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her children: Johnny Burney (Montgomery, AL), Monica Wright (Virginia Beach, VA), Valerie Walker (Montgomery, A), and Kissy Cox (Montgomery, AL); her cherished grandchildren: Laquinda Davis (Montgomery, AL), Tiara Burney (Virginia Beach, VA), Demond Burney (Virginia Beach, VA), Kierstin Lockhart (Montgomery, AL), Americain (Erica) Walker (Montgomery, AL), Kendrick (Airianna) Cox (NC), Dreaudreaunna Davis (Montgomery, AL), Devonte Harris (Montgomery, AL), Ladeja Rose (Montgomery, AL), Khiry Cox, Ke’Shawn Cox, Khadejah Cox, Jayden Poole (Montgomery, AL), Romon Poole Jr. (Montgomery, AL), and Shenika Bryan (Virginia Beach, VA); she also leaves her siblings: Bettye Williams (Rev. Johnny) Carter, and Andrew Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren; and her devoted best friend: Evelyn Steele Taylor (Montgomery, AL).
Ms. Cox is preceded in death by; her mother: Lilian Norman Williams; her father: Otis Williams; her sister: Carolyn Hopkins; and her brother: Charles Williams. Her memory will be forever cherished, and her legacy of love and strength will continue through the lives she touched.
