Nellie Ruth (Johnson) Morris

We respectfully announce the transition of Mrs. Nellie Ruth Morris, Mrs. Morris, a native of Enterprise, AL, and resident of Geneva, AL, transitioned, Saturday, April 1st, 2023. She was 76. Mrs. Morris will lie in state for public visitation on Monday, April 10th, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church from 12Noon until the the Homegoing Celebration begins at 1PM. Pastor James Harvey, Sr. is the officiant. The Committal and Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Nellie R. Morris was born June 4th, 1946, in Enterprise, AL, to Mr. Oscar and Mrs. Jessie Johnson. Nell, as she was affectionately called, was a dedicated mother, friend, mentor, and grandmother. She received Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church for several decades. From trustee, to deaconess, or choir  member; Nell was dedicated to ministry. She loved her family and was a contributor to her community, but more importantly, she loved Christ. As a well respected matriarch, she will always be remembered for her humility, determination, and good will. Mrs. Morris enjoyed traveling to spend time with her children who live in Florida, as well as, spending quality time with her children and grandchildren locally. During her industrious life, Nell served in many capacities. Although she wore many hats, one of the things that she enjoyed most was serving others. Nell spent an innumerable amount of time as a governess for other families. and a beacon of hope for many. 

She will always be loved and remembered by; her dedicated husband: Johnny (Jack) Morris, Sr.; one sister: Earlene Perrin; a loving daughter: Jacqueline Morris; four devoted sons: Patrick (Karen) Wilkerson, Gary (Stacy) Wilkerson, Terry (Barbara) Wilkerson, Donald (Kimberly) Morris, Rufus Morris and Phylessa McKenzie; grandchildren include; Patrice Wilkerson,  Gary Wilkerson, Jr., Garrett Wilkerson, Diamond Wilkerson, Hayden Jones, Kevin Hampton, Teniqua Hampton, Terry Underwood, Antonio Underwood, Christopher Wilkerson, Jalicia Morris, Janna Morris, Keidra Morris, Daryian Morris, Jayda Morris, Javian Morris, LaShonda Rivers, Montavious Morris, Kiarra Tyrues, and Jayla Tyrues; great-grandchildren: Jacyanna Petty, Julian Morris, Keshan Stevens, Shanta Stevens, Eviannah Lett, Makayla Underwood, Antonio Underwood, Jr. and Kash Underwood; two God-sons: Terrence Boley and Lawrence E. Jackson, Jr.; two God-granddaughters: Dannah Davis and Mattie Yarbrough; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, St. Elizabeth church family, and friends.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Joe Johnson, Milton Johnson, Lerlie Johnson, and Oscar Johnson, Jr.; two sisters: Annie Johnson and Julia Johnson; two granddaughters: Shanta Cole and Kendra Wilkerson; and one great -grandaugher Destiny Cole.
