Pamela Elizabeth Thompson Jones, was born in Nyack, New York on December 25, 1953 to Vivian and Thomas V. Thompson, Sr. She passed on July 10, 2022 at the age of 68 in Montgomery, Alabama following a massive stroke in 2020. Pamela, who was affectionately known as “Penny” to her family and “Pam” to her friends, was the youngest of the three Thompson children. Along with her older siblings, Pat and Tommy, Pam was baptized and worshipped at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Nyack, New York.

Pam attended Nyack Public Schools. Following her graduation from Nyack High School in 1972, she enrolled at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. She graduated from Manhattanville with a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1976. In recent years, she returned to school and obtained a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama in 2016.

Pam married William Jones, a high school classmate. Although the two divorced, they continued to communicate occasionally.

Pam moved to Alabama in 1995 where she resided until her death. While in Alabama, she attended a local Baptist church with a community outreach ministry. Inspired by that ministry, she provided a safe and nurturing home for children when their parents were unable to care for them as a foster mother and provided temporary lodging for families when other lodging was not available to them.

Pam loved to read mysteries and was an avid movie watcher. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was friendly, kind, and able to fit in any circle of people. She made everyone who knew her smile. She was the “Christmas baby” who was cherished by her parents, pampered by her grandparents, and protected by her siblings. She was very loved and will be sadly missed.

Pam was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, her grandparents (Daisy Stroud, and Joseph and Mary Mitchell), and her mother-in-law (Amelia Jones). She is survived by her niece, Melissa L. Roy; her nephew, Michael D. Roy; and many friends.
