With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Minister Patricia Gray-Valentine. A native, and resident of Galvez, LA, Min. Valentine transitioned Tuesday, May 16th, 2023. She was 66. Min. Valentine will Lie in State for Public Visitation on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 beginning at 10AM until the Home-Going Celebration begins at 11AM, at Macedonia Church of Deliverance; where her father, Rev. Hase Gray, is the Pastor. Committal & Interment will follow at Macedonia Church of Deliverance Cemetery.
Patricia Gray Valentine was born in New Orleans, LA to Reverend Hase Gray & Evangelist Gloria Tapps Gray, on July 16, 1956. She was the eldest of her siblings. Her parents raised Patricia in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Baptized at the tender age of nine, by the late Rev. Winston Ashton at Shiloh Baptist Church; she kept the course, later becoming Minister Patricia Gray Valentine after preaching her first sermon in January of 2000. Min. Valentine ran for Jesus a long time. This tenure included: serving as a junior usher, choir president, choir director, ministering in song with the senior and young adult choirs, working with the drill team, assisting in teaching bible study classes, church announcer and secretary, coordinating many church programs and events, preparing food baskets and gifts for church members and people in the community, and the list goes on. She was truly a dutiful person who would help when needed. She remained faithful to her call and giftings, and was dutiful in her taskings, even if she had to do it alone. Min. Valentine also served as the Assistant Pastor of Macedonia Church of Deliverance, pastored by her father.
Patricia is a native of Galvez, LA and resided in Baton Rouge, LA for 40 years. She was married to Irvin Valentine, Sr. for 17 years, and is the proud mother of two sons, Irvin, Jr. & Patrick. Her educational background includes graduating in 1974 from East Ascension High School, a Bachelors Degree from Southern University in 1977, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, and recognized for attaining a Master’s + 30. Patricia’s industrious life spanned more than thirty years. Her career choice took her to the Ascension Parish School System. There she was an educator, and librarian with twenty-seven years of service at George Washington Carver Primary School in Gonzales, LA.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Min. Valentine peacefully transitioned. Her work on earth has ended, but her legacy will be forever cherished by; her devoted sons: Irvin (Ashley) Valentine, Jr. & Patrick (Nadia) Valentine; three grandchildren: Ashlin, Jaylin & Therone; her father: Pastor Hase Gray, Sr.; three siblings: Hase Gray, Jr., Beatrice (Herman) Green & Sanaretha Gray; an honorary son: Isreal Lodge; honorary granddaughter: Izzy Lodge; honorary sister: Joyce Lewis & honorary brother: Frederick Young; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
So sleep on Patricia, take your rest, we all love you, but God loves you best. She’s joined in heaven by her mother; Evangelist Gloria Gray; grandparents: Mr. & Mrs. Poche; and her paternal grandmother: Ms. Cora Gray.
