With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mrs Renae Lane Smith-Sellers. A native of Baton Rouge, LA, and resident of Gonzales, LA. Mrs. sellers transitioned, Saturday, March 9th, 2024. She was 59. A Public Visitation will be held Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 from 10-11AM at St. Paul Baptist Church until the Celebration of Life begins at 11AM. The Committal will follow. Pastor George Lathaught A. Delaney is the Eulogist & Officiant.
Mrs. Renae Lane Smith-Sellers was born October 20th, 1964, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Alfred (Big-Jim) and Eula Mae Hickman-Smith. Throughout her life she was affectionately called “Rinda, Rinda Lane or Aunt Rinda.” She was reared in the communities of Banks, Scotlandville and The Park. Renae received her education from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and graduated from Istrouma High School. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Gonzales, LA
Renae’s parents passed away in 1977 when she was twelve years old. As her and her siblings found themselves without their parents, she along with the others learned to live life the best way that they could. From that time until she graduated; her eldest sister, Beverly, raised her. After graduation she lived with her sister, Alfredia, until she faced life on her on, and in her words “Made Life Work For Me.” Renae was a determined woman who paved her own path.
Renae worked at the Baton Rouge Airport for several years before relocating to Atlanta, GA in 1987. While there, she met, fell in love with, and later married Mr. Roy James Sellers, Sr. After the birth of their two children, the family moved back to Renae’s birth state and continued to own and operate their successful business, Roy’s Perfect Painting. As a dutiful wife and mother, she faithfully worked from home to assist her husband and raise her children. Renae also loved her family and friends. She was often the life of any party or gathering and was going to have a good time whether you wanted to or not. Vacationing in Gatlinburg, TN, traveling to Alabama or Georgia to visit family & friends, gardening, making silk arrangements, dining out & listening to various genres of music were just some of the things that she loved to do. She also loved celebrating others, especially her children, nieces and nephews.
Renae will be sorely missed by all who truly loved her, this includes her loving husband of thirty-five years: Roy James Sellers, Sr.; her son: Roy James Sellers, Jr. (Ascatte); her daughter: Ritney Lynn Sellers; her grandchildren: Jaiden Roy Sellers, Cevia Sellers and Roy James Sellers, III; one brother: Ray Smith (Lisa); five sisters: Beverly Aikens (Nolan), Alfredia Jackson, Velenessia Smith (Irvin), Carnita Jackson (David) and Linda Moore; sisters-in-law: Gloria Tucker, Eva Allen, Janice Shoemaker, Eileen Sellers, Debbie Sellers & Sarah Foster; one aunt: Dorothy Green; devoted friends: Ivory, Paula & Fochine; like a brother: Willie Alexander; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Renae is preceded in death by her parents.
