With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Ms. Shirley Temple Murrell. A native, and resident of Montgomery, AL, Ms. Murrell transitioned, Saturday, January 27th, 2024. She was 86. A Public Visitation will be held Friday, February 2nd, 2024 from 4-6PM in the Visitation Suite of Jackson Professional Funeral Services. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 at New Life COGIC. The Committal and Interment will follow at Hayneville Cemetery. Superintendent - Dr. Terry Ellison is the Officiant. Obituary information will be updated as it becomes available.
Shirley Temple (Candy) Murrell was born May 5,1937. She was the eight child born to William "Bill" Murrell and Lugine Glover Murrell in Hope Hull, AL. Shirley attended Tanker Elementary and Dunbar High School. She was employed at Holiday Inn for 30 years, and later at Montgomery Community Action prior to retiring. Those who preceded her in death were her parents and eight siblings: Bessie M. Fitzpatrick, Easter M. Davis, Willie (Buddy), David, Felix, John, James, and Jimmie Murrell.
Shirley was baptized at First Baptist Church in Hope Hull. Later she fellowshipped with First Baptist Church of Greater Washington Park. Ms. Murrell later joined and worshiped with New Life COGIC under the leadership of Senior Pastor-Dr. Terry Ellison,
Shirley was a loving and caring mother to four children, who will cherish her memories forever. Two daughters: Angela T. Murrell, who was a devoted and loving confidant, and Cebria L. Lee, who was her loving and devoted caretaker; two loving and caring sons: Cedric Murrell and Felix (Keisha) Murrell; five loving and adorable grandchildren: Xavier, Jasmine, Katina, Cedric, Jr; and Lauren; two great-grands who were her heartbeats: Asia, a special caretaker, and Xavier, Jr. (Junie); one devoted brother and sister-in-love: Joe Lewis, Sr and Ethel Murrell; a special brother-in-law: Willie H. Davis; a loving and devoted niece: Jennifer V. (Anthony) Gray; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and friends, We thank the Lord for lending her to us for "86" blessed years.
