With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. Thomas Sankey. A native, and resident, of Ramer, AL, Mr. Sankey transitioned Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023. He was 86. A Public Visitation will be held Friday, May 12th, 2023 between the hours of 4PM and 6PM at Jackson Professional Funeral Services. On Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at Jackson Professional Funeral Services; A Public Visitation will be held from 1PM until the Homegoing Celebration begins at 2PM. Committal & Interment will follow at Hickory Chapel Church Cemetery in Ramer.
Mr. Thomas Sankey, also affectionately known as “G.G.” was born February 19, 1937, to Mr. Jimmie Sankey & Mrs. Mildred Huffman Sankey in Ramer, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: William Sankey and Jesse Sankey; and four sisters: Bufis Lee McDuffie, Catherine Sankey, Voncile Sankey and Shirley Ann Evans.
Mr. Sankey accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Ramer, AL. He received his education at Mt. Zion Elementary School. Thomas worked for Chrysler Motors for many years before retiring to enjoy the rewards of his earthly labor. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his wife and family, gardening and doing yard work, and cherishing his grandchildren.
Wednesday, May 3, 2023, Mr. Sankey transitioned surrounded by the love of his family. His memory and legacy will be forever cherished by his loving & dedicated wife: Mrs. Judy Sankey; his children: Jason (Melissa) Sankey of Marietta, GA, Nicole (Jeff) Sankey of Cleveland, OH, Eddie (Mary) Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Reginald (Janel) Bell of Prattville, AL, and Rodney (Tasha) Bell of Ramer, AL; grandchildren: Ashley, Jasmine, Jason, J.T. Jr., Aubriana, Ava, Alexa, Letitia aka “Tish”, and Phyllis; great-grandchildren: Jace and Jeremiah; brothers: Henry Lee (Lois) Sankey of Troy, NY, Jimmy (Valeria) Sankey of Ramer, AL; a sister: Betty Jean (Leroy) Rivers of Lathan NY; brother-in-law: Willie Lee McDuffie of Cleveland, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Ramer Community, and friends.
