With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. Vernard D. Smith A native and resident, of Montgomery, AL; Mr. Smith transitioned Friday, August 25th, 2023. He was 50. A Public Visitation will be held Friday, September 8th, 2023 in the Chapel of Jackson Professional Funeral Services from 4-6PM. Saturday, September 9th, 2023, a Public Visitation will be held 10AM, until the Celebration of Life begins at 11AM at Bryant Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor - Rev Ronald Moncrief. Bishop Charles Davidson is the Officiant & Eulogist. Committal and Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Cemetery.
Vernard was born February 25th, 1973 to Toni Mays and Bernard Smith. He worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for eighteen years. While there he touched the hearts of several co-workers and supervisors. He really enjoyed his job. Vernard was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and friend. He is preceded in death by; his mother: Toni Mays; and an uncle: Freddie Smith. he leaves to cherish his memories; his loving and devoted wife: Georgina Griffin-Smith; five children: DeMonte' Allen, Quandarius Smith, Raheem Griffin, Raven McCullough and Tonie Smith; seven grandchildren: Jordan Smith, raelyn McCullough, KeMonte Allen, Ca'Janae Seawright, Khonner Allen, Quantavious Pettaway and Aris Allen, all of Montgomery, AL; his father: Bernard Smith; one brother: Terrence Smith; two aunts: Edith Bethea of Montgomery, AL, and Marsha Hawkins of Texas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and two very devoted loved ones: Marvin and Jamie.
