With sincere compassion, we respectfully announce the transition of Mr. Wardell Wilson. A native of New Roads, LA, and resident of Geismar, LA; Mr. Wilson transitioned Sunday, June 9th, 2024. He was 85. Mr. Wilson will Lie in State for Public Visitation on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 10AM, until the Homegoing Celebration begins at 11AM. This service will be held at Mt. Gillion Baptist Church. The Committal and Interment will follow at Mt. Gillion Baptist Church Cemetery. The Officiant & Eulogist will be Pastor, Mack "Chip" McCraney, Jr.

The pen of life began to write the life story of Wardell Wilson when he was born to the late George Wilson and Gladys Dorsey on Sunday, January 29, 1939, in New Roads, Louisiana. He received his education through the Pointe Coupee Parish Public School System.

Wardell is a native of New Roads, LA and resided in Geismar LA. He was employed by All Star Ford Prairieville, Louisiana (formerly known as Lousteau Ford) until his retirement. Wardell was a member of a Masonic Lodge and was one of the best fun-loving DJ known as “Lil Pee Wee”.

On Sunday, June 9, 2024, Wardell peacefully transitioned. The pen of Wardell’s life stopped writing; he couldn’t stay here another day. The last chapter of his life story on earth ended, not another line written, not another word said, there was nothing else to be done. He leaves the memories of his earthly life to be cherished by his beloved and devoted wife: Melvina Dunbar Wilson; 7 daughters: Ashley (Irvin) Valentine, Leisa Wilson, Terrie (Vernon) Catherine, Dell Marie (Alfred) Carr, Lynderrick Wilson, Brenda Wilson and Diane (George) Harris; Special Grandson: Therone Stevenson, 24 Grandchildren and 40 Great Grandchildren; 3 Sisters: Eva W. Phipps, Daisy W. Jackson, Deloris W. Calhoun (Willie); 2 brothers; Charles (CJ) Jenkins and Anthony (Tony) Martin; 5 sister in laws: Manda Tillotson, Luverta Dunbar, Hester Lomas (Lionel), Grace Wilson and Brenda Mitchell; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Wardell is proceeded in death by his parents: George Wilson and Gladys Dorsey; 2 children: Kent and Penny Wilson; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 5 siblings: Georgie W. Harrell, JoAnn W. Thorton, Emma W. Hamer, Roland and George Wilson, Jr.; father-in-law Robert Dunbar, Sr., mother-in-law Luverta Dunbar and other relatives.
